About Me

I am a retired VA employee who lives in Texas. I consider the characters of the Bible "family" as much as any I know or have known on earth. To be one of the Lord's beloved is the greatest thing I know. What good company!

Bibledoorajar witnesses the state of the beloved's heart

The country girl remains with the man who was called to be a lover of God. Now, he is saying he will give her all she needs to become his beloved and to become a lover of the God of Israel. Her heart believes and she is beginning to rest in his love.

For the church, rest in Christ for you/me is a major victory. Giving of one's heart to Christ completely is  the most important work of grace. At this advent season, the words of Gustav Hoist come to mind.
The words are in his poem: In the Bleak Mid-Winter.

In the bleak mid-winter
Frosty winds made moan
earth stood hard as iron
water like a stone.

Snow had fallen, snow on snow
snow on snow
In the bleak mid-winter
long ago.

Our God, heav'n cannot hold him
Nor earth sustain
heav'n and earth shall flee away
when he comes to reign.

In the bleak mid-winter
a stable-place sufficed
the Lord God Almighty
Jesus Christ.

Angels and archangels
may have gathered there
cherubim and seraphim
thronged the air.

But only his mother
in her maiden bliss
worshipped the BELOVED
with a KISS.

What can I give Him
poor as I am
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb.

If I was a wise man
I would do my part
Yet what can I give him
Give my heart.

May God continue to grant us all the grace to give our hearts as well so that our righteousness may kiss the King of Peace. Amen.
